Major Types of Radiant Floor Heating

Radiant floor heating systems are subdivided into three major types which are hot water electric floor heating, electric radiant floors and radiant air floors. Overall, they are united by their functionality and ultimate goal: to make the floors warm and to warm the entire room. But the subdivision of them depends on a large number of factors that are necessary to mention. The first type is the most popular system which is installed more often than others. The principle difference from other radiant heating systems is that special pumps are installed underneath the floor that make the heated water flow in circles producing much efficient heat.

The second type is also popular as it demands little amount of electricity to function. Being a cost effective heating solution in order to make heated floors it opens doors for DIY enthusiasts who want to save on central radiant heating.

The third type is the least effective one as air doesn’t hold heat well and this is not sufficient for heating of a residential building.
